So how does private styling works?

1. The first thing you should know is that your process will be catered and designed to meet your necessities. While every client’s needs are unique, my approach to style is systematic.

2. I start with a closet edit, keeping what is a basic and a classic, and listing the missing elements to give you a full lookbook, that can be used as a capsule collection for the season. The goal is not to buy a new closet, but to use what you already have with the addition of the missing key items if that’s the case.

3. In this final phase, I’ll guide you in putting together outfits so you’ll become “au natural.” I’ll also be on call to handle any style needs that come up through the season.

How to organize your closet for the change of season?

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

I am a faithful believer and practitioner of order and cleanliness, it helps me personally to have a better perspective, it saves me money (not buying things that I do not need, if I keep everything in sight I know what I have and what I lack), you flow with the universe and in general things last longer when they are taken care of.

We are just 4 months away from the end of the year, here in Monterrey the weather is extreme and since it can be hot in December, since it can be freezing, but I can prepare myself in advance for autumn by making a closet update plan, which things I no longer use If you haven't worn something in over 2 years, or in the last year, there's a good chance you won't wear it again.

If you organize yourself and see that your closet is organized daily, there are great possibilities that you will keep it that way during the season, it will cost you work, but it will also save you time that you can take advantage of in other things.

It is said that it takes 21 days to break or form a habit, good or bad. If you feel brave you can start by making your bed every day right when you get up, this is a simple but effective example of having perseverance, believe me, after a hard day at work, you will arrive in a made bed: PRICELESS

Let's start with phase 1 of 4: what do I hang on hooks and what do I fold?

FOLD:

1-. Any garment that is knitted: polo shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, if you hang them they will stretch and lose their original shape.

2. If you don't want to invest in wooden hangers, I recommend folding the jeans as well, because if you hang them on a plastic hanger, well you know what happens...

3. Shorts, bathing suits must also be folded.

HANG:

1. Button-down shirts, casual or dress, I recommend ironing them and leaving them ready for use, buttoning the first button so they don't fall to the floor, only the first button. if you keep them like this, you will save time ironing them at the last minute and having accidents like burning them etc.

I make a parenthesis to remind you that using the iron is essential, if you want to avoid it, invest a little more in fabrics that do not require ironing, this technology is handled by most brands, from Brooks Brothers to ZARA. There is nothing that ruins a look more than seeing a wrinkled man, it would be the opposite of neat.

2. Suits, both blazers and pants, jackets, jackets, here it is advisable to buy special hooks for this, since it will keep the structure of the garment intact along with its weight distribution.

3. Dress pants, casual or chinos. It usually has some cotton or wool blend (natural fibers) that increase wrinkles. If you buy special hooks for Suits, these include the space to hang your pants. There are several techniques to hang pants, I work in some stores and the one I recommend so that they do not move from place is passing the legs one on top of the other, this will prevent them from sliding, here they teach you the Savile Row technique.

What follows is to classify what is hung by color groups in this way each color group (white, blue, etc etc) will have its own classification:

white

blues

green

pinks to reds

purple

coffee..ish

black

phase 1: what to double? what to hang?

phase 2: color groups from light to dark

phase 3: short to long sleeve

phase 4: from smooth to printed
